WORK SUMMARY:

Current: As a member of the Software Horizontal Integration & Testing Group on the System Engineering and Integration Contract (SEIC) for SAIC, Thom conducts software testing with the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) in the Orlando (SIL).

During a shift in the US Government (SEIC) contract, Thom's unique set of talents and skills was pressed into service in Software Integration & Testing. In the Software Integration Laboratory in Orlando, detailed reporting of defects in the JMPS software - uncovered through carefully developed Automated Tests written with Quick Test Professional software - requires:

  • Tireless attention to detail
  • Intimate knowledge of the underlying software
  • Steadfast adherence to CMMI Level V processes
  • Adherence to DoD STINFO handling of Unclassified documents
  • Careful dedication to stated US DoD Classified operations
The daily challenge and importance of the work is the primary motivation to achieve excellence. Daily activities include Developing/Modifying/Creating Automated Unit Tests with HP Quick Test Pro.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

8/05 - 8/07: JMPS Developer Support, System Engineering and Integration Contract, Science Applications International Corporation.

As a member of the 4-person team, Thom provided support and classroom instruction on the technical details of JMPS to Developers from Contractors across the country. This included:

  • Created Technical Training Curricula for JMPS Developer Training classes
  • Developed Hands-on labs including COM+ and .NET integration
  • Prepare Lecture and Classroom materials
  • Conducted 5-day training classes [in facility in Orlando and on-site at US Air Bases] to software developers from various contracted companies(Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Wyle Labs and many more)
  • Managed JMPS Developer Help-Desk providing direct support to the effort of developing components for the JMPS Framework via email and telephone interaction with developers
In preparation for each 20 person class, a set of PCs must be loaded with the current version of JMPS and all other required development software applications. Thom has created a repeatable process to accomplish this in minimum time; developing programmed ‘scripts’ to accomplish the repetitive tasks in a consistent manner. Singular responsibility for the update, maintenance, concurrency of the JMPS Programmer’s Guide in careful coordination with the primary contractor (Northrop Grumman)

With frequent interaction with the development team at Northrop Grumman and the JMPS development community, Thom has established many positive relationships that aid the SEIC contract and the JMPSEnterprise.

Thom has supplied a unique Internet concept for which SAIC is seeking US Patent protection

01/05 – 8/05: Technical Trainer, Applied Voice and Speech Technology, Inc. Traveling throughout the United States, Thom provided on-site training to telephony technicians on the AVS CallXpress3 Voice Processing Server Platform products. This required:

  • Set-up of Portable Classroom with 15 PCs, Cisco Call Manager, 16 IP telephones
  • Five days of instruction, offering students ‘hands-on’ experience
  • A mixture of projected Presentation and direct configuration and programming assistance

10/03 – 7/04: Information Specialist, Government Emergency Telecommunications System (GETS) and Wireless Priority System (WPS), Science Applications International Corporation.

With DoD Secret Clearance, provided high-level Technical Assistance functions for the National Communications System (NCS); a division of the Department of Homeland Security. Managed and maintained NCS systems, including Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS), Wireless Priority Service (WPS), and Telecommunications Service Priority (TSP).

  • Developed several database-driven software tools to enhance NCS operations
  • Assisted with enhancements to existing web portal(s)
  • Provided ‘process improvement’ on a daily basis

11/01 – 08/05: Senior Developer / Founder / Owner, Twice21, LLC / WebSembly, LLC

Thom applied a full range of software technology skills and creativity to develop custom business solutions for clients in B2B environment. With a unique creative talent;

  • Developed Web sites
  • Assisted with Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Created Multi-media Distribution (CD, Video)

• Provided online tools to boost marketing Thom has numerous trademarks and a patent in the application process.

{The position with AVST, above, was a contract to Twice21 and a means to come to the aid of a dear friend who finally succumbed to Lukemia}
